This is an easy family recipe for marinara. Surprising how many people would still eat the stuff out of the jar...when this is so simple to make and tastes much better.
Ingredients
2 Tbsp. olive oil
1 medium onion, chopped
2 - 4 garlic cloves, chopped
1 large can tomato puree
1 large can chopped tomatoes
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1 Tbsp. oregano
1 Tbsp. parsley
1/2 Tbsp. basil
sugar to taste
How we make it
In a large skillet over medium heat, saute onion and garlic until tender.
Add other ingredients, reduce heat and cover. Cook for one hour.
This is excellent for all kinds of pasta dishes. We like ti with cheese stuffed shells and manicotti.
It freezes really well too!
