Personal Care

Be Good to Yourself

Take care of your exterior as well as your interior!

Living a vegetarian lifestyle has definite health benefits. Many people report "feeling better" within a very short time after making the transition to vegetarianism. Of course, being vegetarian means that you need to be conscious of all of the nutritional implications. In other words, you need to know that you have to balance your diet properly in order to ensure that you are getting the proper nutrition. In many cases that means taking some kind of supplement. Taking care of yourself also means working on the "outside" as well as the inside. Often, how we feel on the inside is determined by how we think we look on the outside. I say how we think we look because many times our perception of ourselves is different from the perception other people have of us. We are often overly critical of ourselves and dissatisfiedwith our "body image". Unfortunately, especially in the Western World, too much emphasis is placed on "body image" and often that emphasis is distorted by what we see in magazines, on TV, in movies and on most of the billboards along the highways. We are constantly bombarded by images of what we're told we should look like, or at least it makes us feel that way.

However, to look good and feel good it is important that we provide nourishment to our "whole self". This means nourishing the inside body with proper food and exercise. It means nourishing the outside body with proper care. It means nourishing the mind and spirit with relaxation, de-stressing, education and establishing some core beliefs. It is a holistic thing...an evolving thing...something we owe ourselves and those we love.
