Why I am a raw foodist!

I turned 62 yesterday on February 5, 2009. On June 16, 2007 I suffered a massive stroke and spent the next 2 1/2 months between four different hospitals. Just before I had the stroke I read a book, Green for Life, and made the decision to become a raw foodist. Unfortunately, the stroke messed up my plans for a couple months.
After I got out of the hospital and began thinking more clearly, I remembered about my plan to become a vegan. I had tried for years to lose weight but had still been unsuccessful even while tracking every bite and knowing I was eating about 200-300 fewer calories daily. The stress had helped me gain 100 pounds!
Since I have quit eating meat and dairy, my stuffiness has gone, and so far I have lost 50 or so pounds. I haven't been on the scales for well over a month so I really don't know how much more I may have lost.
My cholesterol is down and in the good area. My C-reactive protein level was an incredible 0.6. All the other blood tested areas were great too including glucose which registered 87 and they even had me taking something for diabetics while hospitalized. The only area I am still fighting is my blood pressure but even that is slowly coming down!
And I eat dates every day!
I am now studying to become a certified professional health coach. The course that I am taking lasts for a full year and ends in December 2009.
